Pivoting from Coaching to Authorship… Listen to the inner calling…

It’s been several years since we celebrated one of the most successful Olympic and Paralympics events. The fever has waned of course, and people have moved on, energized no doubt by other exciting events in their lives. Lifework Coaching has been energized by a new focus … moving from Coaching to Authorship and launching a new website, which will showcase my past, current and future stories.

Writing has been a mainstay for Lifework Coaching.  Blog postings focusing on topics relevant to clients, individual responses supporting their immediate needs and planning and creating workshops and team-building initiatives all factored into a day of coaching.

Through the years my writings were also threaded with child-related issues.  Supporting different learning styles and behavioural tendencies in children gained popularity and was woven into Lifework Coaching’s practice.

Child centered pieces started to formulate in my personal writings as well. My attention to the plight of children during the Incan Era fascinated me as did modern-day challenges for children affected by divorce. I realized there was an underlying need to write about these issues. Gaining awareness and noticing this inner urge for creative expression was my first step to realizing and fulfilling this calling.

Next came the belief that I can do it. Confidence and self-belief come with some level of success but to achieve success one needs to risk a challenge.  The Olympic notion, which the nation espoused so many years ago was “Yes we can,” and yes we did as a nation. People embraced the slogan on a personal level as well and it became “Yes I can.”  Listening to and pivoting towards that inner calling is the path to finding and expressing that voice which hides within.

We need to look within to discover our opportunities to shine for it is when we acknowledge and show our brilliance that we can best serve ourselves and the world, and truly make a difference. K’naan’ messaged the nation with his inspirational song, “Wavin’ Flag”, which was chosen as the official FIFA’s World Cup 2010 theme song,

“…. You have to know, the urge to make a change lies within….”.  Your special gifts are yours to discover but not yours to keep.  So pass them on!  What are you feeling the “urge to do”?

There comes a time when holding back and minimizing your potential doesn’t serve you anymore.  Finding your voice is the most powerful pivot you can make…. having and demonstrating a knowing and a confidence that you have much to offer those around you as well as yourself.

What have you recently said, “yes I can” to?

Where and how did you muster up the courage to pivot?

How will you duplicate your newfound behaviour?

With my new website and writing, I found the courage to pivot into my creative writing and share that which so much wants to be expressed.

Notice what is calling you.

Acknowledge its presence.

Have the courage to pivot and make it happen.
